Many of our new customers may not know that this truly is a family business.
A brief family tree
Herb and Roger Eldean are sons of Vivian and Herb Eldean. Herb Eldean Sr. was the long-time Federal Harbor Master in Chicago and started the Monroe Street Harbor over 100 years ago. Herb Sr. and sons Herb and Roger ran the Monroe Street Harbor until 1973. Herb and Roger then purchased Eldean Shipyard in 1973.
Herb's wife is Patricia. Patricia ran the Piper Restaurant located at the marina for 33 years until retiring and closing the restaurant in 2015. Wade Eldean is the son of Herb and Pat. Ryan Eldean — currently the captain of a 70-foot yacht — is the son of Wade and Kris Eldean (Kris is our party aficionado). Wade and Kris's nephews and nieces Ellie, Jax, Addie, Kyra, Morgan, Gavin and Riley also help out from time to time.
There are a few more Eldeans around, but this is the group you will be seeing day-to-day this summer.

The Eldean family has owned and operated the shipyard for more than fifty years — on a site that has been building and servicing boats since 1901.
